This pendant was inspired by the vision of death and spirituality in the Christian iconography. The contrast between the rich decorated cross and the skeleton made of papier-mache questions the sacred and the profane aspect in human beliefs.
The silver cross is decorated of synthetic stone with red and turquoise reflects.
The skeleton is made of a metallic structure that I covered with small piece of recycled news-paper and is protected with transparent resin. There are 2 magnets in both hands, so you can place them on praying postition.
Each bone are jointed with a link and can move.

After several trips to India, I was really impressed by the omnipresence of death in this culture. This society accepts death like a natural process; it is perceived as part of humanity’s destiny, as a life’s cycle. Destruction, degradation is present everywhere and in every mind in daily life. During my contemplation of cremations, I realised that we are but small things on earth: only bones and ashes.
