Piece I Love – October 31st

Handpicked by Poppy

As a total ring magpie I thought I had seen them all, until I saw that beauty that is. Handmade in recycled sterling silver, plated with 24 carat rose gold and adorned with fair-trade sapphires, this beauty really does sum up the word unique.

Already a big fan of all skull & antler jewellery, my heart skipped a beat when I saw both come together – slightly bizarre and very unique! The red flower makes this otherwise dark piece surprisingly feminine & girlie.

Fresh Talent Alert – October 27th

Posted in by

Another week, another influx of amazingly creative and unique independent designers for Boticca.

K Rothwell

Designer Karen Rothwell mixes traditional hand craftsmanship with a modern design aesthetic for her remarkably creative collection. Inspired by her travels, Karen uses her silversmithing skills to discover and test the limits of new materials.

Jupe

With androgynous dressing still very firmly on our fashion radar, Jupe’s unisex ties and bow ties are the perfect fashion fix. Hand-embroidered with the finest materials, the Jupe’s printed silk designs are a breath of fresh air.

Justin Smith Design

Walking between the lines of art and fashion, Justin Smith’s designs are some of the most creative and eye-catching we have seen for quite some time. Through various stuffing and holding techniques, he creates structure and volumes in his designs, which range from bags to shawls to scarves.

DICHA

Meaning joy and happiness in Spanish dialect, DICHA jewellery is just a joy to behold. Inspired by fashion trends that span the test of time, DICHA jewellery is handmade with semi precious stones, pearls and antique accessories. Treading the line between costume and fine jewellery, we are very excited to have this young design duo on Boticca.

Who wore it better?

Posted in by

With a limited number of ‘it’ dresses and a multitude of celebrities, it’s inevitable that sometimes, shock horror, celebs will be seen in the same ensemble. Here we take a look at these style twins and in a bid to make every look individual, we show you how the help of some unique accessories would win the style war every time.

Sandra Bullock Vs Paula Abdul

We say:

Proving that jumpsuits never go out of style, our two stars both wear this black ensemble beautifully. However, with a figure like Oscar winner Sandra Bullock’s we feel adding a belt like the Silver Crystal Bow Belt by Poupee Couture would both jazz it up and show off her enviable waist. With Paula on the right track, a necklace is definitely needed to bring this block color to life. With Paula’s chunky choker weighing her down too much, we would opt for the Conos Necklace by Paula Mendoza – ideal to add the perfect amount of sparkle. Last but not least, a true fashionista is never properly dressed without her handbag and we would love to see these ladies with Wilbur&Gussie’s Edith Silver Glitter clutch.

So Boticca fans – who wore it better? Leave your comment below.

I’d welcome a cold front if it meant staying warm with this hooded knit cape! I love Electronic Sheep’s illustrated knits, and this one would be a welcome addition to my A/W wardrobe!
