The Happiest Necklace

Seratonin Necklace by Emily Alice

Seratonin Necklace by Emily Alice

Jewelry designer Emily Alice makes jewelry that represents the molecular structure of serotonin, dopamine and other hormones that engineer our emotional responses. This necklace is serotonin, which is responsible for your feelings of calm and happiness. The lace-like structure of the necklace is beautiful and I love the meaning behind it. Imagine wearing happiness around your neck – it certainly beats an albatross.

Jewelry Inspired By Euclidean Geometry

Brushed silver ring by Angela Ciobanu

The Flow of the Point Ring (8) by Angela Ciobanu

Jewelry designer Angela Ciobanu is inspired by Euclidean geometry. She experiments with lines and points to create jewelry that is striking in its simplicity. Here’s a few words from Euclides himself:

“The line is the first species of quantity, which has only one dimension, namely length, without any width nor depth, and is nothing else than the flow or run of the point which will leave from its imaginary, moving some vestige in length, exempt of any width.”

A Glimpse of Spring: Salet by Eri Takekawa

Silver and diamond necklace by Salet by Eri Takekawa

Delicate silver leaf necklace with diamond detail by Salet by Eri Takekawa

I’m typing this from cold, sleeting London with no trips to warmer climes on the horizon, so forgive me if I seem a bit desperate for spring. Currently, I’m coveting this beautiful leaf necklace from Salet by Eri Takekawa. It is made in extraordinary detail and features a small diamond to represent a fresh dewdrop. Eri explains why she loves this piece:

“This necklace is inspired by a beautiful plant called ‘Glechoma hederacea subsp.’
Nature uniquely created this leaf in the shape of a heart, which I wanted to recreate in to a precious piece of jewelry to bring you luck when worn on your chest.”

It’s a great reminder that spring will be here sooner than we expect… If we survive these chilly temperatures!

Gold plated pendant by De Anna Kiernan

Curve Shard Pendant by De Anna Kiernan

De Anna Kiernan’s background in architecture directly informs her jewelry, which is minimalistic and elegant, yet still strong enough to get attention. Her latest collection is inspired by London’s newest skyscraper, the Shard. The building resembles a sharp shard of glass (hence the name!) and De Anna’s collection follows suit. This elegant gold pendant features contrasting finishes and is great for the holiday season. What would you wear with this pendant?

Silver horse pendant by Renaissance Life

Year 1970 Freedom Horse

Renaissance Life specializes in romantic, nostalgic jewelry. I’m in love with this cute silver horse pendant. Designer Linnéa Götstav says this lovely horse represents freedom in Sweden.

“This horse has taken inspiration from the handcrafted traditional dalahäst from Sweden. They say that when you wear this horse necklace around your neck, you will be freer and want to explore the world.”

Voodoo Erzuli ring by Lee Renee

I’m thrilled the holiday season is upon us – there’s loads of family time, food and gifts in my future. Yet sometimes, all this holiday cheer can be a bit too saccharine. Offset the season’s sweetness with Lee Renee’s edgy, voodoo-inspired jewelry gives the season some edge.

The Mysterious Mecurialist

Silver pendant by Mecurialist

Raptor claw pendant by Mecurialist

“The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious, it is the source of all true art and science. Those to whom this emotion is a stranger; who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe are, as good as dead, their eyes are closed.” -Albert Einstein.

This is the philosophy that drives the Mecurialist design team. They use precious metals and unusual materials to explore a whole host of mysterious and ancient topics, from history to alchemy. Cast from the fossil of a velociraptor, this sterling silver pendant is probably the fiercest piece of jewelry I’ve ever seen, and I mean that in every sense of the word. What do you think?

Amethyst cuff by LindseyMarie

Amethyst cuff by LindseyMarie

I’ve suddenly found myself falling for statement cuffs! I must confess that I’ve never been one for big cuffs – since I spend the bulk of each day tapping my keyboard, I usually leave my wrists bare. However, this particular cuff is simply irresistible. I’m in love with the huge amethyst druzy that sits at its center – click here for a closer look! As designer LindseyMarie says, the “sugar-like” appearance is truly unforgettable. I’ll keep this one at my desk and pop it on for last-minute drinks and dinner parties.
