The stylized cloud motif in the Clouds Dissolving series is inspired by the qualities of Japanese woodcuts, specifically the waves, clouds, and mountains of Hokusai’s beautiful prints. While designing the motif for this series, I spent a lot of time sprawled in the grass outside my studio, scanning the sky for big, fluffy clouds to sketch.
I personally execute all design and making processes in my Richmond, VA studio: this scarf has been warp-painted, woven, and dyed by hand and is a one-of-a-kind piece. It is woven with extra-fine-weight mercerized cotton (warp) and extra-fine-weight silk (weft) to create a sturdy but very lightweight piece. This scarf is silky and soft with excellent drape in a luxuriously large and versatile size. Care is simple: wash by hand in a delicate detergent, lay out immediately after washing, and dry flat. Do not wring.
